A workers’ rally organised by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) began in the capital’s Naya Paltan on Friday, drawing a large turnout of leaders and activists from Dhaka and nearby districts.
The programme formally started at around 2:30pm, while processions began gathering after Jumu’ah prayers, steadily filling the area.
Participants were seen wearing red caps and T-shirts, carrying banners and beating drums, creating a lively and charged atmosphere. The venue quickly turned into a sea of supporters chanting slogans and applauding party leaders.
BNP Standing Committee Member and labour leader Nazrul Islam Khan said all preparations had been completed despite adverse weather conditions. He expressed confidence that the rally would see an unprecedented turnout.
He also said party Chairman Tarique Rahman is expected to attend the programme as the chief guest.
