Prime Minister Tarique Rahman left Dhaka for Jashore on Monday morning on his first official visit to the district since assuming office.
He departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 9:15am on a scheduled flight operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
During the day-long visit, the Prime Minister is set to inaugurate the Ulashi Canal excavation project in Sharsha upazila and attend a civic reception organised in his honour.
He will later offer prayers and have lunch at the Jashore Circuit House before laying the foundation stone of Jashore Medical College Hospital. The itinerary also includes a visit to the Jashore Institute Public Library.
In the afternoon, Rahman is scheduled to address a public rally at Jashore Central Eidgah Ground, organised by the district unit of his party.
Officials said he is expected to return to Dhaka in the evening after completing the visit.
This marks his first official tour to Jashore as Prime Minister. He last visited the district on February 2, when he addressed an election rally as party chief.
