12 more banned AL men held in city

The Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested 12 more activists of the banned Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations during a special operation conducted in different parts of the capital in the last 24 hours.


The arrestees are: former office secretary of Tejgaon Shilpanchal Thana Unit AL Md Habibur Rahman (60); president of Ward No. 7 Unit AL under Noakhali Union Parishad Md Zahidul Islam Parvez (43); office secretary of Mirpur Ward No. 12 Unit AL Md Mujibur Rahman (47); member of Awami Jubo League Central Committee and former co-secretary of Chhatra League Ziaul Haque Zia (40); vice-president of Nawab Katra Unit Jubo League Md Kalim (52); former general secretary of Shramik League under Kadamtali Police Station Habibur Rahman Ujjal (33); president of Chandpur District Unit Awami Matsyajibi League Md Redwan Khan Borhan (50); former organizing secretary of Central Chhatra League Sohanur Rahman (33); secretary of Amar Ekushey Hall Chhatra League Ataul Gani Kaushik (34); former vice-president of Central Chhatra League Ershadur Rahman Rifat (31); former mayor of Jibannagar Municipality in Chuadanga and general secretary of the local AL Md Jahangir Alam (57); and general secretary of Dhaka City North Shramik League Md Iqbal Hossain Palash (42). 

The arrestees are wanted in multiple criminal cases.

Deputy Commissioner of DB of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the matter to BSS.

Earlier, on Sunday and Monday, 32 leaders and activists were arrested for their suspected involvement in criminal activities,.
