The Lalbagh Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) organised a daylong awareness workshop on Monday for bus drivers, helpers, and supervisors at the inter-district bus terminal in Fulbaria, Dhaka.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness among transport workers about safe driving practices, traffic regulations, and responsibilities under the Road Transport Act 2018.
Abu Sayeed, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner of Lalbagh Traffic Division, attended the programme as the chief guest, as the Deputy Commissioner could not attend due to illness. The workshop was conducted and moderated by Md Nazmul Haque, Assistant Police Commissioner of the Fulbaria Traffic Zone.
Among others, Police Inspectors Bidyut Kumar and Md Shamsul Islam of the Fulbaria Traffic Zone were also present and played active roles in facilitating the session.
The workshop covered key topics such as do’s and don’ts while driving, understanding traffic signs and signals, and compliance with traffic laws. Police Inspector Bidyut Kumar led the training session, while the event was presided over by Assistant Commissioner Md Nazmul Haque.
Participants expressed appreciation for the initiative, saying the session helped them understand proper driving etiquette, road safety regulations, and their roles as drivers, helpers, and supervisors. They emphasised the need for such programmes to be held regularly to enhance road safety and improve professional knowledge.
Over a hundred drivers, helpers, and supervisors attended the workshop. The organisers stated that similar awareness programmes will be conducted regularly to promote safe and lawful driving practices across the city’s transport network.
