Child found dead in canal in Panchagarh

Police recovered the body of a child from a canal at Sadar upazila in Panchagarh district early Friday.



Police recovered the body of a child from a canal at Sadar upazila in Panchagarh district early Friday.

The deceased was Mahi, 6, son of Jahirul Islam, a resident of Dangapara village in the upazila.

Police said locals spotted the body of Mahi in a canal nearby the house after he had gone missing since Thursday morning.

On information, police recovered the body, said Panchagarh Sadar Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Abdul Latif Miah.

He assumed that the child might have drowned in the canal.

An unnatural death (UD) case was filed in this regard, the OC added.
