482 held in 24hrs across Dhaka

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 482 people in separate raids across the capital over the past 24 hours and filed 48 cases.

According to a DMP press release issued Monday, the arrests were made by different DMP units.

Of those arrested, 34 were detained by Ramna Division, 24 by Lalbagh Division, 64 by Wari Division, 87 by Motijheel Division, 67 by Tejgaon Division, 114 by Mirpur Division, 33 by Gulshan Division, 50 by Uttara Division, eight by the Detective Branch (DB), and one by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Division.

During the operations, police recovered Tk 290,000 in cash allegedly generated from drug sales, four music systems worth around Tk 230,000, five mobile phones, a knife, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, 157 SIM cards, three motorcycles, one pistol, one magazine, one revolver and six rounds of ammunition.

Police also seized 12 sickles, a baseball bat, a dasa (traditional cutting weapon), a dagger, a cutter, 7,699 yaba tablets, 65.5 kilograms of cannabis, nine ampoules of injections and 22.5 litres of foreign liquor.

The arrests and seizures were made during separate drives conducted in different police station areas of the capital.

Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway, reports BSS.
