Bangladesh pacers inspire Kent back into English County top tier

Dhaka,  27 Sept - Bangladesh fast bowlers Hasan Mahmud and Syed Khaled Ahmed put an impressive performance in their first season in the England's County Championship as they played key roles in Kent's late surge to help them secure promotion to Division One of the County Championship.

Kent sealed second place in Division Two after the completion of their last round match, earning an immediate return to the top tier.

The performance of Hasan and Khaled spoke a magnitude of their contribution considering that Kent finished bottom of the second division last season.

Hasan and Khaled's contributions came at a decisive stage, with the two Bangladesh pacers combining for 42 wickets in just seven matches to help propel Kent back into England's top-flight county competition.

Hasan was particularly influential during Kent's promotion push, claiming 26 wickets in four matches before returning to Bangladesh national team duty. His impact provided Kent with a major boost in the closing stages of the campaign.

Khaled, who joined Kent towards the end of the season, also made an immediate impression. The right-arm pacer took 16 wickets in three matches, including a match-winning haul of eight wickets in Kent's seven-wicket victory over Lancashire.

That performance against Lancashire proved crucial in strengthening Kent's position in the promotion race.

Khaled finished the season strongly as well, taking five wickets across two innings in Kent's final match against Gloucestershire, which Kent won by eight wickets.

Kent's promotion was confirmed after Northamptonshire lost to Middlesex, leaving Kent second in the eight-team Division Two standings with 198 points from 14 matches, while Northamptonshire finished on 191.BSS
