No edible oil price hike before verification: Muktadir
Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir today said the government will not allow any increase in edible oil prices before properly examining the demand of traders.
"Although traders are demanding an increase in edible oil prices, the government will take a well-considered decision after examining the matter," he told journalists after inaugurating riverbank protection work at Kanishail on the right bank of the Surma River in Sylhet Sadar upazila this morning, said a press release.
The riverbank protection work is being implemented under a project titled "Development of the Surma-Kushiyara River Basin and Flood and Integrated Water Resources Management".
Replying to a question about whether the country's overall law and order situation could hamper investment, the minister said the government is keeping a close monitoring so that the prevailing law and order situation does not affect domestic or foreign investment, reports BSS.
The government is attentive to maintaining an environment conducive to investment, he added.
