Stringent security measures have been put in place at Ramna Batamul in Dhaka ahead of Pahela Baishakh celebrations, recalling the tragic bomb attack that took place at the venue over two decades ago.

aw enforcement agencies have deployed extensive arrangements to ensure public safety during the festivities. As part of the security plan, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) helicopters have been kept on standby. Coordinated foot patrols and mobile surveillance by uniformed personnel have also been intensified.

Officials said there is no specific intelligence about any threat, but added that no security lapse will be tolerated.

The Ministry of Home Affairs, RAB, and police have issued guidelines and restrictions for visitors attending the celebrations.

Extensive CCTV coverage has been installed across the venue to ensure continuous monitoring. The area has been secured with bamboo barricades, while RAB watchtowers have been set up at key points for enhanced vigilance.

A control room has been established on-site, along with medical facilities to provide immediate assistance in case of emergencies.

Meanwhile, people across the country are observing Chaitra Sankranti on Monday, marking the final day of the Bengali calendar year. The occasion is seen as a time of farewell and renewal, as people leave behind the fatigue and hardships of the past year and welcome the new year with hope.
