They were rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

At least two people, including a Swechchhasebak League leader, were injured in crude bomb explosions Wednesday in the city's Bijoynagar area.

Police said three crude bombs exploded in front of the Bijoynagar Water Tank around 3:00pm amid the nationwide blockade imposed by BNP-Jamaat and their like-minded political parties for the eight times.

"Three crude bombs exploded in front of the Bijoynagar near Purana Paltan More this afternoon. Two people were injured in the incident," said Officer-in-Charge of Paltan Police Station Md Salauddin.

The injured were a senior member of Dhaka City South Swechchhasebak League Abdul Taher Bhuiyan Mukut, 32, and marketing manager of a private company AK Azad, 64, he added.

They were rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Taher said he was injured in the blasts as he was returning to his house on Sutrapur's Patlakhan Road from Bijoynagar area riding motorcycle.

As he reached the road in front of the water tank, several cocktails exploded next to his motorcycle, he said, adding that a splinter hit in his right leg.

Later, his friend Siam Salauddin took him to DMCH.

AK Azad said he suffered injuries to his right hand and left rib from the explosions while he was going to Kakrail from his office in Motijheel on a rickshaw. He was taken to DMCH by pedestrians.

In charge of DMCH Police Outpost Bachchu Mia said two injured in the incident were brought to the hospital around 4:00pm.

Both of them are out of danger, he said, adding that they are being treated in the emergency department of DMCH.
