Gulistan blast death toll rises to 24 as another dies

Another victim of the Siddikbazar explosion succumbed to his injuries at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital on Saturday (March 11) morning.
With this, death toll from the tragedy rose to 24.
Mirza Azam, 35, passed away while undergoing treatment at the institute around 9:30 am, said Dr. SM Ayub Hossain, resident surgeon of Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.
Around 80 per cent of the surface area of his body was burnt in the blast, he said.
Azam, son of Sajahan Mia from Patuakhali district, worked at a shop named Bangladesh Sanitary located in the basement of the building, damaged by the explosion.
The explosion that took place in a restaurant called Cafe Queen in the basement of the seven-storey building in Gulistan’s Siddikbazar area on Tuesday afternoon (March 7) has so far claimed 24 lives and injured over 100 people.
