Journalist Toufique Imrose Khalidi Dies at 59

Toufique Imrose Khalidi, a prominent Bangladeshi journalist and editor, has died at the age of 59.

He died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in London on Friday evening Bangladesh time.

Khalidi was taken to a London hospital on Thursday night after suffering a brain haemorrhage. Doctors pronounced him dead at 2:23pm local time on Friday.

A colleague said Khalidi's condition had deteriorated following the stroke and that he had remained under treatment at the hospital since then.

Khalidi was a well-known figure in Bangladesh's journalism and media industry. He had served as editor-in-chief and publisher of an online news outlet since 2006.

He was widely associated with the development of online journalism in Bangladesh and played a prominent role in the country's digital news media.
