Five honoured with Independence CNC Award for 2024

The Independence CNC Award 2024 was distributed at the Biswa Shahitto Kendro on April 30, 2024.



Five eminent poets and journalists were honoured with Independence CNC Award for 2024, two of them posthumously, by the Centre for National Culture (CNC) through a programme at the Biswa Shatto Kendro on March 30 last. 

CNC, founded by Sayed Ali Ahsan, eminent litterateur and national professor plus one of the main organisers of the literary and cultural activities in support to the war of liberation in Kolkata, honours eminent people for their works.

The Independence CNC Award 2024 was distributed at the Biswa Shahitto Kendro on April 30, 2024.

This year the recipients of the Independence Day Award were Ekushey laureate Poet Asad Chowdhury (posthumous), Poet and Journalist Ershad Majumder, Poet and social worker Bulbul Khan Mahbub, Journalist and writer Rejowan Siddiqui (posthumous) and Poet, journalist Salem Suleri.

Sumon Khan Mahbub, son of Poet Bulbul Khan Mahbub, received the award on behalf of his father; Nadim Iqbal, son in law of Asad Chowdhury received the award of his father-in-law while Qamrunnahar Khanam, wife of Rejowan Siddiqui, received the award of her husband. Salem Suleri was personally present and took the award from CNC President Advocate AKM Badruddoza. Ershad Majumder received the award later through a family-level programme.

Mahbubul Huq, Executive Director of CNC, Poet Zakir Abu Zafor, keynote speaker of the ceremony, Syed Mazharul Parvez, president, Bangladesh Writers Society, Adv. Dewan Mesbah Ahmed Nasim, Prof, Shaila Ahmed and newspaper editor Mostafa Kamal Majumder spoke at the programme welcoming the recipeints of the award. 

The said CNC is performing a great responsibility of recognizing eminent people for their works, who, for reasons not clearly spelt out, are not covered selectors of various awards given by the government for contributions to different fields. – GreenWatch News Desk
