Probe Launched into Alleged Bias in BCS Recruitment
The government has launched an investigation into allegations of corruption and partisan influence in the recruitment of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) cadres during the previous administration.
State Minister for Public Administration Md Abdul Bari disclosed the development in parliament on Thursday during a question-and-answer session.
He said the Anti-Corruption Commission, along with other law enforcement agencies, is examining the allegations, adding that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.
Responding to a question from a lawmaker, the minister also highlighted administrative measures taken over the past 16 years, stating that 12 officials in the BCS administration cadre were forced into retirement, 39 were dismissed from service, and 564 were made Officers on Special Duty (OSD).
He noted that claims of corruption and political favouritism in recruitment during that period are still under review and remain subject to ongoing investigation.
