Payra Port chairman gets Eid invitation from those facing eviction.
Patuakhali: In Kalapara, Patuakhali, 136 family members of Zia Colony, who are facing eviction, have extended an exceptional Eid invitation to Payra Port Chairman Rear Admiral Masud Iqbal. At noon on Sunday, women, men and children of the village arrived at the main gate of the port with a greeting procession. Later, a delegation of them entered the port and handed over Eid invitation cards to the chairman's private secretary Ahsan Habib.
Residents of Zia Colony said that the port contractors are coming day and night with bulldozers to evict the extremely poor family members of Zia Colony, built in 2001. If they are evicted, there will be no place to rest their heads. Therefore, such arrangements have been made to invite the port chairman to see their plight on Eid day.
