OIC Secy-Gen Meets High Rep for UN Alliance of Civilizations

OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha on Thursday received the High Rep of the UN Alliance of Civilisations, Miguel Angel Moratinos.

Jeddah, 13-02-2025 -The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, H.E. Hissein Brahim Taha, received, today, 13 February 2025, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Jeddah, H.E. Mr. Miguel Angel Moratinos, High Representative for the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and his delegation.

During the meeting, the Secretary-General commended the significant progress made by UNAOC under Mr. Moratinos' leadership since 2019, particularly in strengthening interfaith dialogue to promote peace and tolerance. For his part, the High Representative expressed the readiness to further enhance cooperation and coordination with the OIC in the efforts to fight Islamophobia.

Both sides discussed ways to enhance their partnership and explored new initiatives while addressing current challenges related to religious discrimination. – OIC News
