Dhaka, 3 Sept-Bangladesh U-23 football started their AFC Asian Cup qualification campaign with a losing note s they suffered a 2-0 goal defeat to host Vietnam in their opening group C match held at Phu Tho provincial stadium in Vietnam Wednesday.
The early breakthrough came for Vietnam when forward Nguyen Ngoc My scored
the first goal in the 15th minute from a well-judge angular shot from top of
the box and after the resumption substitute midfielder Li Viktor sealed the
victory scoring the second goal for Vietnam with a header from inside the
small D-box in the 83rd minute.
Bangladesh U-23 football team will play their remaining group matches against
Yemen and Singapore on September 6 and September 9 respectively.
Forty four Asian teams, split into eleven groups, are taking part in the
meet.
Later, eleven group champion teams, four best group runners-up and hosts
Saudi Arabia will play in the 16-team final round to be held in Saudi Arabia
in January next year.
