Mohammedan reach semifinals

Dhaka, 5 Dec -Mohammedan Sporting Club reached semifinals of the Independence Cup Football beating Chittagong Abahani Limited by a solitary goal in the quarterfinal match held at Bir Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Tuesday.

Mohammedan will now play the first semifinal against old Dhaka outfit Muslim and Friends Society scheduled to be held on Dec 15 at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj.

In the proceeding, Uzbekistan midfielder Muzaffar Muzaffarov scored the all-important goal for Mohammedan in the 97th minute of the match.

Chittagong Abahani Limited were reduced to ten men as Islam Sakib was shown red card by the referee following double yellow cards.
