The rescue operation has been underway since last night under the supervision of Bandarban Sector Commander Colonel Rubayat Jamil despite adverse weather, waterlogging and strong flood currents, said a BGB press release today.
The rescued families have been taken to Shaheed Mosharraf BGB School and Kraikhyongpara Government Primary School, where temporary shelters have been arranged.
BGB has also distributed food, safe drinking water and emergency medicines, while giving priority to women, children, elderly people and the sick, reports BSS.
In addition to safeguarding the country's borders, BGB has continued to play an active role in protecting lives and property in the remote hill districts during natural disasters, the release said.
The force remains committed to carrying out rescue operations, ensuring safe shelter and providing necessary humanitarian assistance to people affected by floods, landslides and other emergencies, it added.
