It took firefighters about four and a half hours to bring the blaze under control.
According to factory sources, the fire started around 3.30 am in the jhut storage section of the factory.
Workers and officials initially tried to douse the flames with their own resources, but the fire quickly spread beyond control. The Sreepur Fire Service was then alerted, and two firefighting units rushed to the scene.
“We received the call around 4:00 am and immediately began operations to control the fire,” said ATM Mahmudul Hasan, Warehouse Inspector of the Sreepur Fire Service.
“It took about four and a half hours to bring the situation under control due to the large amount of jhut and discarded fabric inside the warehouse, which fueled the fire.”
By the time the fire was extinguished, most of the materials stored in the warehouse had been destroyed. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage could not be determined immediately. An investigation is underway to assess the losses and identify the source of the blaze, reports BSS.
Factory Manager Md. Khalid Hossain confirmed that everything in the warehouse was burnt before firefighters could contain the flames. “The fire spread within moments. Despite our best efforts, we couldn’t control it until the fire service arrived,” he said.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
