Woman dies breathing smoke in Pallabi building fire

Dhaka, Mar 25 – A 70-year-old woman was killed in a fire which broke out at a multi-story building in Dhaka’s Pallabi area on Wednesday.

The victim, identified as Masuda Begum, was found in the kitchen on the eighth floor, having died of smoke inhalation, according to Talha Bin Jasim, station officer (media cell) of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarters.

He said the fire broke out on the seventh floor of the 12-storey building around 18:15pm and spread soon.

On information, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze around 7:38 pm.

The body has been handed over to Rupnagar Police Station OC Mozammel Haque, he added. - UNB
