At least 12 houses were destroyed in a fire that erupted in a slum located in the Halishahar area of the city today.
The fire ignited at Lane No. 4 of Block I in Halishahar at approximately 9:30 am today. It is suspected that the blaze originated from a wooden stove within one of the homes.
According to sources from the Chattogram Fire Service control room, the fire was reported around 10 am. Subsequently, four units were deployed to manage the situation.
The fire service successfully contained the blaze by around 10:30 am. Local residents indicated that the fire began at approximately 9:30 am, resulting in 10 to 12 houses being consumed by the flames.
Almost all personal belongings within the affected houses were incinerated in the fire.
