Animal sacrifices continued across Dhaka on the second day of Eid-ul-Azha (June 8), as many residents who couldn't perform the ritual on the first day took part in the celebrations today.
In areas such as Old Dhaka, Lalbagh, Tikatuli, Mugda, and Basabo, scenes of animal slaughter and meat processing were visible from early morning. Many cited busy schedules, a shortage of butchers, or late delivery of cattle as reasons for the delay.
In Bangshal, residents were seen preparing for sacrifice in front of their homes, spreading plastic sheets and organizing tools. Some had already completed the ritual, while others were busy cutting and distributing meat under the guidance of experienced butchers. Groups of children and teenagers watched the process with curiosity.
Similar scenes unfolded in Bou Bazar, the narrow lanes of Tikatuli, and side streets in Mugda and Basabo.
Locals said that while some delayed due to logistical reasons, others intentionally chose the second day to avoid crowds and perform the ritual at their convenience.
