Mizanur Rahman Sinha’s Janaza Held at Parliament Plaza

The namaz-e-janaza of former State Minister for Health and former Member of Parliament Mizanur Rahman Sinha was held on Sunday at the South Plaza of the National Parliament in Dhaka, drawing senior political leaders, lawmakers, and government officials.

The janaza took place at around 11:30am, where Chief Imam of the Parliament Secretariat Qari Abu Raihan led the funeral prayer. A large number of dignitaries attended, including the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, members of the Cabinet, and Members of Parliament.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman attended the janaza and later paid tribute by placing wreaths on the coffin of the deceased. Leaders across political parties, including senior lawmakers and BNP representatives, were also present at the ceremony.

Before the janaza, Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal, MP, read out a brief biography of the late leader, highlighting his long political career and contributions to public service and industry.

Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram, MP, expressed deep condolences and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul. He also extended sympathy to the bereaved family, describing Sinha as a sincere and respected public figure.

Earlier, in an official message of condolence, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman expressed deep shock and sorrow over Sinha’s death. He said that Mizanur Rahman Sinha’s contributions to politics and the health sector would be remembered with respect.

After the tributes, prayers were offered seeking forgiveness for the deceased. The entire Parliament complex remained solemn during the ceremony.

Mizanur Rahman Sinha passed away early Saturday at around 2am at a hospital in Singapore while undergoing treatment for age-related complications. He was 83 years old and is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and many well-wishers.

He was elected Member of Parliament from Munshiganj-2 (Tongibari–Lohajang) in the 1996 and 2001 national elections as a candidate of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). He later served as State Minister for Health and Family Welfare from 2003 to 2006.

Beyond politics, he played a significant role in the country’s industrial sector as Managing Director of Acme Group, contributing to business growth, employment generation, and regional development.tion expansion, and economic growth in his constituency.
