
A three-member delegation of the voluntary organisation BD Clean met with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at his office in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday stressed the need to further expand public awareness campaigns to build a clean and liveable Bangladesh, praising the contribution of BD Clean volunteers to environmental protection and cleanliness initiatives across the country.
He made the remarks when a three-member delegation of the voluntary organisation BD Clean paid a courtesy call on him at his office in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, according to the Prime Minister's Assistant Press Secretary, Md Nazmul Haque Khan.
The meeting focused on BD Clean's ongoing efforts to promote cleanliness, protect the environment and raise public awareness about civic responsibility.
State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Mir Shahe Alam was present at the meeting.
The BD Clean delegation included former chief coordinators Champa Akter and Zahirul Islam Robi, and incumbent chief coordinator Masudur Rahman.
The prime minister highly appreciated the organisation's voluntary work and stressed the importance of expanding similar awareness programmes across the country to encourage greater public participation in keeping communities clean.
The BD Clean representatives reaffirmed their commitment to working with the government to help transform Dhaka into a cleaner, more liveable and environmentally friendly city.
Founded on 3 June 2016 with a single volunteer, BD Clean has grown into one of the country's largest volunteer organisations, with more than 58,000 members operating in 58 districts and 165 upazilas.
Over the past decade, the organisation has helped restore 18 canals and seven rivers, developed 76 clean public parks, and carried out regular nationwide cleanliness drives and public awareness campaigns.
