BYD, the global leading New Energy Vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, has accelerated Bangladesh’s electric mobility journey with the grand launch of three advanced NEVs — the BYD Seal 5, BYD Seal 6, and BYD Sealion 6 AWD — at a grand launching ceremony held on 17 May at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), Dhaka. The launch event marked another significant milestone in bringing smarter, more sustainable, and technology-driven mobility solutions to Bangladeshi roads.

The event was graced by Ketsu Zhang, Deputy General Manager of BYD Asia-Pacific Auto Sales Division, as the Chief Guest. Distinguished attendees also included Hafizur Rahman Khan, Chairman of CG Runner BD Ltd.; Amid Sakif Khan, Managing Director of CG Runner BD Ltd.; Charles Ren, Country Manager of BYD Bangladesh; and Imtiaz Nawsher, Chief Marketing Officer of BYD Bangladesh, alongside customers, business partners, media representatives, and other guests.

The evening featured an immersive reveal show, product presentations, keynote speeches, vehicle unveilings, media interactions, and the ceremonial handover of 60 pre-ordered BYD vehicles to customers. The launch highlighted BYD’s growing commitment to bringing world-class NEV technologies and intelligent driving experiences to Bangladeshi customers.

Leading the launch lineup, the BYD Seal 5 arrives as a Super Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) sedan powered by BYD’s advanced DM-i technology and Blade Battery. Equipped with a 1500cc Xiaoyun high-efficiency engine, the vehicle delivers a combined maximum power of 154 kW and 300 Nm torque, with a combined driving range of up to 1000 km. The sedan also features ADAS safety technologies, 360 HD camera, 6 airbags, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, regenerative braking, and a 12.8-inch intelligent infotainment system.

The BYD Seal 6, a fully electric sedan, offers an electric driving range of up to 410 km. Featuring a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with rear-wheel drive, the vehicle delivers 95 kW power and 220 Nm torque. The model also includes DC fast charging, ADAS, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, leather seats, PM2.5 air filtration, and BYD’s signature Blade Battery technology.

Expanding BYD's premium SUV portfolio, the new BYD Sealion 6 AWD introduces an all-wheel-drive Super Plug-in Hybrid SUV experience with up to 128 km of pure electric range, further supported by a 1,500cc turbocharged engine for journeys that extend beyond the electric range. The vehicle is equipped with a 15.6-inch infotainment display, an Infinity premium sound system, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and heated seats, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) support, and advanced safety technologies including seven airbags and an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) — delivering a premium, technology-driven driving experience tailored for modern families and adventure seekers alike.

Speaking at the event, Ketsu Zhang, Deputy General Manager of BYD Asia-Pacific Auto Sales Division, stated: “Bangladesh is becoming an increasingly important market for BYD’s global NEV vision. Through the launch of the Seal 5, the Seal 6, and the Sealion 6 AWD, we are bringing advanced technologies, intelligent safety, and sustainable mobility solutions that align with the future of transportation. We believe these vehicles will redefine how Bangladeshi customers experience new energy mobility.”

Commenting on the new NEV launch, Imtiaz Nawsher, Chief Marketing Officer of BYD Bangladesh, said: “Today’s launch reflects BYD Bangladesh’s strong commitment to expanding the country’s NEV ecosystem with diversified vehicle options for different lifestyles and driving needs. From hybrid efficiency to fully electric innovation and premium SUV performance, the new lineup represents the next evolution of smart mobility in Bangladesh.”

The newly launched BYD Seal 5 is priced at BDT 38.90 Lac for the first 500 units, while the fully electric BYD Seal 6 is available at BDT 48.90 Lac. Expanding the premium SUV lineup, the BYD Sealion 6 AWD has been introduced at BDT 71.90 Lac, offering customers advanced new energy mobility options across multiple segments.

All three models come with BYD’s industry-leading warranty and advanced Blade Battery technology, further strengthening customer confidence in the brand’s long-term commitment to Bangladesh’s growing NEV market.
