Thakurgaon-1 by-election to be held Oct 29

The by-election to Thakurgaon-1 constituency will be held on October 29 as the Election Commission announced the election schedule on Thursday.


EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed declared the schedule at the Nirbachan Bhaban in the city's Agargaon area.

Thakurgaon-1 seat fell vacant after Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, who won the constituency in the 13th parliamentary election, was elected President.

According to the schedule, the deadline for submission of nomination papers is September 27, while the date for scrutinising nomination papers is September 29, and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is October 7.

The election symbols will be allocated on October 8.

The balloting will be held from 8am to 4pm without any break, reports UNB.
