Nusrat Tabassum Jyoti has taken oath as a Member of Parliament to a reserved women’s seat in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, completing the formal process of her induction into the national legislature.

The oath was administered by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram at his office inside the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. The ceremony was conducted by Parliament Secretariat Secretary Md Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, following established parliamentary procedures.

After taking the oath, Nusrat signed the official oath register in the Parliament Secretariat, a customary step that formally records a member’s entry into the House.

The event was attended by the Deputy Speaker, the opposition’s Chief Whip, and senior officials of the Parliament Secretariat, reflecting the institutional importance of the occasion.

Nusrat’s swearing-in took place a day after the Election Commission declared her elected unopposed on May 4. She had been unable to join the earlier oath-taking ceremony on May 3, when 49 other members elected to reserved women’s seats were sworn in, as the official gazette notification confirming her election had not yet been issued.

Reserved seats in the Jatiya Sangsad are allocated to ensure women’s representation in Parliament, with members elected by lawmakers rather than through direct public vote. With her oath now completed, Nusrat Tabassum Jyoti is set to begin her parliamentary duties, including participating in legislative proceedings, committee work, and policy discussions.
