BB Buys $171m to Stabilise Taka via Dollar Auction

Bangladesh Bank on Tuesday purchased US$171 million from 11 commercial banks through multiple dollar auction mechanisms, continuing its efforts to stabilise the taka and support the remittance and export sectors.

Central bank data showed the dollars were bought at a rate of Tk 122.30 per US dollar.

With the latest transaction, Bangladesh Bank’s total dollar purchases reached $966 million in February 2026, while cumulative purchases in the current fiscal year stood at $4.90 billion as of February 9, 2026.
