Bangladesh eyes top spot in global manufacturing: CA

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has said his government aims to transform Bangladesh into a global hub for manufacturing and economic development.

“We want to be one of the top manufacturing countries in the world,” he told a group of prominent foreign investors during a closed-door meeting on Wednesday.

The meeting, organised to attract foreign investment, was attended by influential figures including a former deputy prime minister of the Maldives, a Malaysian royal family member, a former Malaysian minister, a Qatari royal, senior bankers, and wealthy non-resident Bangladeshis.

The chief adviser highlighted Bangladesh’s favourable investment climate and welcomed investment in key sectors such as manufacturing, waste management, energy, banking, and tourism—particularly in Cox’s Bazar.

He encouraged the investors to visit Bangladesh and engage directly with relevant agencies.

Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain and Senior Secretary Lamiya Morshed were also present during the meeting.
