5.4 Magnitude Quake Jolts Parts of Bangladesh

An earthquake was felt in various parts of the country, including the capital, Dhaka. The tremor occurred at 1:53 pm on Friday (February 27).

According to CSEM sources, the epicenter of the earthquake was in Satkhira, Khulna. Its magnitude was recorded at 5.4 on the Richter scale.

Earlier, on Thursday (February 26) at 12:04 pm, another earthquake was felt in different areas of the country, including Dhaka. It reportedly originated in Sikkim, India, located about 455 kilometers northwest of Dhaka.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) and the Earthquake Observation and Research Center of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said the magnitude of that quake was 4.8 on the Richter scale.
