Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus has urged experts to submit recommendations as soon as possible on government measures for earthquake preparedness.

Addressing a meeting of earthquake specialists on Monday night, Prof. Yunus said the government is ready to adopt all necessary steps and has already begun forming expert committees and multiple taskforces following a series of recent tremors in the capital and other areas.

“The dedicated bodies will be established based on the experts’ suggestions,” he noted, emphasizing that the government aims to act proactively without resorting to unscientific measures amid warnings of a major earthquake.

Experts at the meeting reassured officials that the four earthquakes over Friday and Saturday are not a cause for panic. They stressed the importance of adopting essential precautionary measures rather than reacting impulsively.

The session was attended by Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud, Law Adviser Asif Nazrul, Disaster Management and Relief Adviser Faruk-e-Azam, Energy Adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan, Housing and Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, Environment and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, and the Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Prof. Ali Riaz.
