A mild earthquake was felt in Ashulia of Savar this morning, following another tremor reported the previous day.

According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the quake was recorded at 10:36:12 am.

A BMD bulletin, signed by Nizam Uddin Ahmed, Professional Assistant, stated that the earthquake measured 3.3 on the Richter scale, with its epicentre at Baipayl, located 29 kilometres northwest of the BMD Seismic Centre in Agargaon, Dhaka.

Earlier, on Friday, a 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck Dhaka and several other parts of the country at 10:38 am, sending tremors across the capital and beyond, according to the BMD.

The epicentre of Friday's quake was identified at Madhabdi in Narsingdi, 13 kilometres east of the BMD Seismic Centre in Agargaon.

However, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed that the epicentre was situated 14 kilometres west-southwest of Narsingdi, at a depth of 10 kilometres, reports BSS.
