3 die after overdrinking alcohol in Munshiganj

Three individuals died and three others fell sick allegedly after drinking too much of alcohol in Kathadia village in Tongibari upazila of Munshiganj, locals said on Saturday.


The deceased were identified as Ibrahim Munshi, 60, Bachhu Bepari, 60 of Tongibari upazila and Hossain, 65 of Sadar upazila.

Among the deceased Bachhu died on Thursday night while the two others died on Friday afternoon in their respective houses.

Meanwhile, three more victims, identified as Rahmatullah Bepari, 60 was undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital while Alamin, 46 and Sizan, 28 were undergoing treatment at local hospital, said Md Anisur Rahman, chairman of Kathadia-Shimulia union parishad, reports UNB. 

Local people said all the six were on a drinking spree on Thursday.

However, Mahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Tongibari Police Station, said he has heard about the incident, but did not give details.
