In a special operation in Charghat, Rajshahi, police arrested a drug dealer with 384 yaba tablets and 20 grams of heroin.

He was arrested last night at around 12:45 AM in an operation on the Baneshwar-Charghat road in front of the main gate of Charghat Women's Degree College.

One of his accomplices fled at that time.

The arrested person is Setab Uddin, 30, son of Anarul Islam of Patiakandi village in the upazila. The other accused who fled is named Akash, 30. He is the son of Sadhu of Shimuliya village in Charghat upazila.

Based on secret information, they came to know that two individuals were staying in front of Charghat Women's Degree College for the purpose of selling drugs. Later, when a raid was conducted there, they tried to flee after seeing the police.

Police said that a team led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Goni Chowdhury of Charghat Model Police Station was conducting the special anti-drug and anti-smuggling operation.

At that time, Setab Uddin was detained and searched, and 384 yaba tablets and 20 grams of heroin were recovered from a blue polythene bag in the right pocket of his pants.

However, his accomplice Akash managed to escape from the spot.

In this incident, a case has been filed against the two accused - one arrested and one absconding - at Charghat Model Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.

Efforts are underway to arrest the absconding accused, reports BSS.
