Dengue: 3 more die; 1,097 new hospitalized in 24hrs

Health officials today said they recorded 1,097 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least three persons in the past 24 hours.

"During the period, (of the 1,097) 123 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 116 in Chattogram division, 258 in Dhaka division, 109 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 82 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 243 in Khulna division, 81 in Mymensingh division, 76 in Rajshahi division, six in Rangpur division and three in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 93 deaths while the disease inflicted 34,783.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country, reports BSS.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
