Nine More Children Die From Measles in 24 Hours

Nine more children died from measles and measles-related symptoms across Bangladesh in the 24 hours between 8:00am on 11 May and 8:00am on 12 May, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

During the same period, 1,105 patients showing measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals nationwide.

Among them, 87 cases were confirmed as measles through laboratory testing.

According to DGHS data, at least 68 children have died from confirmed measles infections in Bangladesh so far this year. In addition, 356 children with symptoms consistent with measles have also died.

Health authorities said that from 15 March to 12 May, a total of 7,024 measles cases were confirmed through laboratory tests across the country.

The latest health bulletin also stated that 51,567 suspected measles cases have been identified nationwide. Of them, 32,877 patients have already recovered and been discharged after treatment.
