Bangladesh and Norway today expressed their mutual commitment to bolstering industrial ties and expanding trade cooperation to further strengthen the existing friendly relations between the two countries.

The consensus came as Norwegian Ambassador to Bangladesh Håkon Arald Gulbrandsen paid a courtesy call on Industries Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir at the latter’s office in the Ministry of Industries here, said a press release.

During the meeting, both parties discussed a wide range of issues concerning bilateral interests, with a specific focus on scaling up cooperation in the trade and industrial sectors.

Describing Norway as a long-term friend and a trusted development partner of Bangladesh, Muktadir underscored the government’s firm commitment to fostering industrialization and ensuring sustainable economic growth.

He noted that the government is prioritizing the attraction of foreign investment and formally invited Norwegian entrepreneurs to explore the vast opportunities within Bangladesh’s promising industrial landscape.

Responding to the Minister’s appeal, Gulbrandsen lauded the long-standing collaborative relationship between the two nations.

He highlighted that significant potential exists for mutual cooperation, particularly in high-growth sectors such as shipbuilding, ship recycling, environment-friendly green technology, and renewable energy.

The envoy expressed his optimism that investment and trade between the two nations would witness a substantial increase in the future.

Furthermore, both the Minister and the Ambassador reiterated their shared goal of deepening bilateral ties through joint efforts in industrial development, the transfer of advanced technology, and the development of a skilled workforce to meet the demands of modern industry.

Among others, Industries Secretary Md. Obaidur Rahman and senior officials of the ministry were present on the occasion, reports BSS.
