Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain

Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain said on Sunday that Bangladesh’s relations with Pakistan had been intentionally kept poor for many years.

Addressing a meeting organised by the DCAB in the city, he noted, “Certain decisions caused relations with Pakistan to deteriorate compared to earlier years.”

He added, “The issues that existed before 2009 remained unresolved for the next 15 years. Pakistan neither issued an apology then nor later, and the matter of asset division stayed unsettled. During that period, some deliberate decisions were taken that worsened the relationship.”

“Our current policy is to establish normal relations with Pakistan — nothing beyond that,” he emphasised.
