Bangladesh urges stronger energy ties with Algeria

Bangladesh on Thursday requested Algeria to enhance collaboration in the field of energy to ensure country’s long-term energy security.


The two countries discussed avenues to strengthen cooperation in the domains of trade, investment, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture, shipbuilding and manpower.

Ambassador of Algeria to Bangladesh Abdelouahab Saidani met State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and discussed ways of cooperation.

The meeting reaffirmed the long-standing friendship and growing cooperation between Bangladesh and Algeria, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The state minister emphasised the importance of collaboration in the field of recruitment of skilled and semi-skilled manpower and welcomed the ongoing process of establishing a Joint Consultative Commission.

She underscored the importance of enhancing people-to-people contacts and stressed the need for high-level visits to further deepen the partnership between the two brotherly countries.

The ambassador reiterated to enhance collaboration in the fields of energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, shipbuilding and high-level visits to further deepen the existing bilateral relations, reports UNB.
