Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is expected to make his first overseas trip since assuming office with a planned visit to Malaysia on 21–22 June, followed by a three-day official visit to China beginning on 23 June.
Foreign ministry officials said preparations for both visits are underway, although detailed agendas are yet to be finalised.
A senior foreign ministry official said the proposed Malaysia visit has been agreed in principle, with discussions continuing to finalise key engagements and priorities.
The upcoming visits are being seen as important diplomatic efforts by the new government to strengthen relations with major regional partners and expand cooperation in key sectors.
Officials said discussions during the visits are expected to focus on boosting trade and investment, enhancing labour migration opportunities, expanding economic cooperation and deepening broader bilateral ties.
In recent months, senior government representatives, including the foreign minister and expatriates’ welfare minister, visited several regional countries as part of ongoing diplomatic engagements.
The planned visits are expected to mark a significant step in advancing Bangladesh’s regional partnerships under the new administration.
