Development projects must be completed within stipulated time: Fakhrul

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today directed the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) to accelerate the implementation of development projects and ensure their completion within the stipulated timeframe to meet public expectations.


The minister issued the directives while addressing a review meeting on the implementation progress of Annual Development Programme (ADP)-enlisted 
projects for the 2025-26 fiscal year at the conference room of the Local Government Division at the Secretariat here.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the implementation progress of various projects, quality of work, expenditure management and timely completion of the schemes.

Speaking as the chief guest, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stressed the need for increasing the pace of project implementation and urged the officials concerned to perform their duties with responsibility and accountability.

He said public welfare-oriented and sustainable projects must be undertaken through proper and transparent management of taxpayers' money.

The minister also instructed the authorities concerned to ensure that common people directly benefit from the ongoing development activities.

Chaired by Local Government Division Secretary Md Shahidul Hasan, the meeting was also attended by senior officials of the ministry and project directors of different ongoing LGED development projects, both physically and virtually, reports BSS.
