Suspected thief killed in mob attack in Faridpur

A suspected thief was killed in a lynch-mob attack and three others were injured at Talmar intersection in Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur district early Monday.


The deceased was identified as Shaheen, 23.

Rezaul Karim, Officer-in-Charge of Nagarkanda Police Station, said noticing five people in front of Debinagar Durga Temple at Talmar intersection two men on a motorcycle approached them, questioned them.

At one stage, they began shouting “thief, thief.”

Hearing the cries, more than 200 locals from two to three nearby villages rushed to the spot and beat them indiscriminately, leaving four of them injured. Among them, Jihad managed to flee.

The injured were taken to Faridpur Medical College and Hospital where Shaheen succumbed to his injuries, reports UNB. 

Three more injured victims identified as –Sumon Sheikh, 25, Pervez Matubbar, 18, Enamul, 25—were undergoing treatment at the hospital.
