A youth was stabbed to death allegedly over a land dispute in Charghat upazila of Rajshahi on Monday evening.

The victim was identified as Jishu Ali, 28, son of Robiul Islam from Paitkhali village under Nimpara Union.

According to locals, there had been a long-standing conflict over land between Jalal Uddin and Robiul Islam, both residents of the same village.

The incident occurred around 5 pm, when Jalal’s son, Babar Ali, 30, got into an argument with Jishu.

During the altercation, Babar suddenly took out a knife and stabbed Jishu multiple times, leaving him critically injured.

Locals rushed Jishu to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, but he died on the way, reports UNB.

After the incident, Babar Ali fled and hid in a nearby house.

Police later raided the house at night and arrested him.

Nimpara Union Chairman Mizanur Rahman said that the two families had been in dispute over the land for years, and the matter was already in court.

Mizanur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Charghat Model Police Station, said, “Police recovered the body and sent it to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for autopsy. The accused Babar Ali has been arrested.”
