Foreigner held with cocaine at Dhaka airport

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) officials detained a Guyana national along with 8 kgs of cocaine from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka in the early hours of Tuesday.


The detainee, MS Petula Staffel, arrived in Dhaka on Qatar Airways flight QR638 from Doha.

He was detained before crossing the green channel, said Sonia Akter, Deputy Director of CIID.

She said after searcher 8.66 kgs of cocaine were found concealed in 22 oval-shaped foil-wrapped packets inside plastic containers, reports UNB. 

Legal action will be taken against the detainee, officials said.
