A man was killed and eight others were injured in a clash between two groups centering a disputed arbitration in Ramgarh upazila of Khagrachhari district, said police on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Md Abdul Kalam, 50.

Locals said that a dispute erupted when a cow belonging to one Saddam grazed on the land of neighbour Murtuza in Teichalapara area of the upazila on Thursday.

The issue was settled through the arbitration around 8:30pm on Thursday.

Enraged by the outcome of the arbitration, supporters from the both groups got locked into the clash while nine, including Kalam, were injured.

Mohammad Main Uddin, officer-in-charge of Ramgarh police station, said three of the injured were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital due to their critical condition at night, reports UNB.

Of them, Kalam succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital in the early morning, he said.

The rest were receiving treatment, he said, adding that no one has so far been detained in this connection.
