Protesters in Bogura district have torn down the local offices of the Awami League (AL) and its ally, the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD-Inu), after vandalizing and setting them on fire, witnesses reported on Friday.

The chaos began around 8 pm on Thursday and lasted into the night, drawing thousands of people. Notably, no law enforcement was present during the unrest.

According to witnesses, the protests started earlier in the evening when a group of protesters entered the premises of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court at 6:30 pm. There, they destroyed the nameplate of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with hammers.

By 8 pm, around 500 protesters marched along Station Road and Nawabbari Road, chanting slogans and attacking the Awami League office on Temple Road, which was set on fire. Two hours later, a crane was used to demolish both the Awami League office and the personal office of AL leader Sultan Mahmud Khan Roni.

The mob then moved on to the nearby JSD district office, where they ransacked the premises, set fire to furniture and other items, and brought in another crane at midnight to demolish the building.

Simultaneously, the Jatiya Party office on Thana Road was also attacked, vandalized, and set ablaze.
