Auditors detected that Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) failed to deposit Tk 2,259 crore to the exchequer.

The irregularities were detected by the audit report by auditors in the office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).

The auditors found that the BTCL ignored repeated requests to deposit the money to the exchequer.

From July 2008, when Telephone and Telegraph (T and T) department was transformed into BTCL as a public limited company it skipped depositing the revenue it earned.
