506 held in 24hrs drive across Dhaka
A total of 506 people were arrested and 40 cases were filed during regular anti-crime operations conducted by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) across the capital over the past 24 hours.
According to a press release issued by the DMP's Media and Public Relations Division, the arrests were made in different areas under the jurisdiction of various police stations in Dhaka.
Of those arrested, 43 were taken into custody by the Ramna Division, 52 by Lalbagh, 52 by Wari, 68 by Motijheel, 99 by Tejgaon, 114 by Mirpur, 37 by Gulshan, 38 by Uttara and three by the Detective Branch.
During the operations, police also recovered 400 grams of cannabis, 4,314 yaba tablets, two "sweet gear" items, one banner, six masks, 11 mobile phones, Tk 5,100 in cash and one victim.
The DMP said the operations were conducted in different police station areas of the capital, resulting in the recovery of various items and narcotics as well as the arrests, reports UNB.
Legal proceedings against those arrested are underway.
