Three Buses Set Ablaze in Mirpur, Badda; Cocktails Explode

Three buses were set on fire in separate incidents in Dhaka’s Mirpur and Badda areas on Saturday evening, while four crude bombs, locally known as cocktails, exploded in Jatrabari, leaving a rickshaw driver injured.

The incidents took place at different locations across the capital during the evening, according to fire service and police officials.

At around 7:13pm, a moving bus of Shikor Paribahan caught fire in front of Jamjam Tower in Mirpur-11. Fire Service Duty Officer Rashed Bin Khalid said two units were sent to the scene after receiving the report.

The fire was brought under control and no casualties were reported. Fire service officials initially suspected that a mechanical fault may have caused the fire.

Around the same time, another bus of Abhijat Paribahan caught fire in the Mirpur-1 area. Mirpur police said the fire was quickly extinguished with the help of local residents. No casualties were reported.

At around 8pm, another bus, identified by police as an Alif Paribahan vehicle, was set on fire in front of a garage in Madhya Badda.

The bus was parked by the roadside when unidentified individuals allegedly set fire to its rear and fled. People present at the scene quickly extinguished the fire.

Meanwhile, four crude bombs exploded in succession in front of Samad Super Market at Jatrabari Chourasta at around 7:35pm.

A rickshaw driver, Md Billal, was injured in the explosions. Jatrabari police confirmed the blasts and said they were investigating the incident.

Police have yet to identify those responsible for the explosions or establish the motive behind the incidents.
